tc please beware of using a stallion not approved by the FPS if you want to register the foal. There are some lovely registered stallions around but unless they have been passed by the Dutch judges their offspring won't be eligible for registration. Last I heard, the nearest approved stallion was based in Ireland. I think many people travel their mares to the Netherlands or try AI. Go to www.fhagbi.co.uk for more info.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for the info. The stallion we are going to use is a registered Friesian stallion and was bought from Holland as a 3 yo. He has never been taken back to the official gradings to get breeding priveleges though. The way I understand it from the FPS in Holland is that we would be able to register the offspring in the secondary studbook (the older mare which we have is registered in the secondary studbook as she was UK bred to a non approved stallion). I'm just waiting now for the confirmation in writing from them. If they won't accept registration at all though then we will have to look at the other options. It is so complicated trying to breed from these horses!

Hi, I remember Vics when you first backed your boy (from the old boards) would love to see some recent pics of him, Friesians are my fav breed, but could never afford one so instead have my black welsh cobs, and drool over the 6 friesians nearby (2 mares, their two offspring, and two others, all from a breeder in Scotland)
