I thought it might be an idea to have a topic on diets/weightloss, so people can come here for some support.
I'm 5'10", 17.1 stone, and size 20/22. My heaviest was 3 weeks ago, when I weighed 17.12 stone. I felt ashamed of myself, so decided to do something about it! I've lingered at the 17 stone mark now for about 5 years, and I can't say I've enjoyed it much! I've stopped loosing at the moment, so I'll have to rethink my diet again!
I want to eventually ride my mare, and other horses, as I daren't get on one now! I'm really looking forward to the future, a new slimmer me, that can go into a saddlery, and buy jods that actually fit!

Thanks Fluffypony! I thought if anyone had any hints and tips or recipes etc...
I'm waiting for something nasty to be said to be honest!
Or is there a nutritionist out there that can guide us perhaps?

I had a weight loss group on the old forum, it ran for about 8 months or so and lots of people lost weight, it was like an online support group.
Love the pic of the doggy sobagirl!

I am deffinatly in if any one has any ideas have tried loads of diets in the past but am now stuck at that part where it won't shift, doesn't help as can't ride at the moment as my horse is laid up...I am my heaviest now at 16st!!! and totally ashamed!!!! Before I married and had my daughter (11 years ago) I was always between 9 and 10st and a size 10....but have real difficulty dropping to lower the 12st now..I don't eat unhealthy..and I have found in the past the only way for me to stay slim was to near enough starve myself!! I have always been up and down with my weight and always been very active as I am now..it is so frustrating..I know there are no over night or quick fixes to losing weight, but it really gets you down when the "fat" don't shift!!! so any ideas I am deffinatly here to listen......

I'm just on the beginning of my journey! I'm aiming to make 12 stone or under for next summer, but at the moment my aim is 16 stone. I had to go over to my mums to pick up my daughter yesterday, and mum does gorgeous sunday dinners, with home made gravy! I couldn't resist! And being as I got there early, she did oatcakes (a Stoke-on-Trent pancake type thing) with bacon and cheese on.........also had 4 oatcakes this morning too. I've gone off the rails abit this weekend, porrige does get a little boring everyday of the week, but now I've had a mega treat, I'm resolute to stay on a diet.
Good luck everyone! I know nothing about dieting to be honest, so can't give any advice! Happy losing!

Sounds good jinglejoys ;D Either that or I have considered wearing a grazing muzzle and being lunged on a daily basis ;D I was thinking guys....as this is introductions, and we now have a NH section, would it be worth setting up an official fat camp in there? I have a goal I want to get to, and should coincide, if I work hard enough, with having enough savings to find myself something to ride again.

Have a look at www.lighterlife.co.uk or .com It is very good and strictly monitored. It is a healthy way to lose weight bt hard work so requires commitment. My parents did this diet last year and it worked a treat. They will only take yyou on if you are considered clinically obese BMI above 29 and you have to have medicals, results are good, and if you follow it strictly the weight stays off. Hope it helps. and no, i do not work for them!

I've lost 1.5 stones in the past 4 months doing the GI diet - quite easy to incorporate into your life and the whole family can do it too as really about heathly eating - avoiding processed / refined foods and eating more veg and fruit
