Well, I post on the MF and the DG so I expect some of you may recall my name. I have a 16hh 5 yo heavyweight cob type from Belgium who I bought last October. Duke has a very fine bay coat and a thick but fine mane and tail - not a lot of feather, though. He is a gem, according to his present rider, who is riding him until I recover from a tumble I had last September from another horse. I rode Duke for a month but my broken ribs and damaged back became too painful and I have been having treatment since then. I hope to start riding again soon but the confidence has taken another knock: it seems to take longer to recover the older I get!
I have been around horses for many years and have owned quite a few. My horse of a lifetime, to date, was a 15.3hh palomino anglo arab called Honeydew who was a rig. I had years of fun with him and we did everything from pleasure rides to hunting, team chasing and even a 9 mile XC race! Can't see me doing that any more! He stopped competing at 27 and died at 29. A remarkable horse.
You may gather that the thing I love to do the most is chatter about my horses!

Hi, Lucy Here is a picture of my old Honeydew when he was about 23 yo. This was at the start of a 20 mile ride organised by one of the local riding clubs.

This is old Honeydew, my wonderful old horse who was a rig, with an ear cocked towards a mare who accompanied him on this ride. He had a tremendous leap in him, despite the rather araby cow hocked back end. A late, lamented field master of the Cattistock Hunt came over and congratulated us on clearing a huge oxer out hunting on one occasion. I could not have done that in cold blood!!!

Hi, Bay Mare and Spottyhorse
Thanks for your comments and I mkust say your horses are a credit to you - very nice.
Spooty horse - I am in West Somerset so quite a way from you but I do know a lot of people in your area around East Coker, Halstock and Corscombe in particular. I have also helped out with various Cattistock PC events over the years, including, on one memorable occasion some 15 years ago, being volunteered by another friend who now lives abroad but who did a huge amount with the PC, as an adult escort on a beach ride whilst trying to ride one of her young horses! Sadly, my dear friend from East Coker was killed in a hunting accident last November but I still visit from time to time to visit his now grown up boys ex-nanny, who still lives there in one of his flats, and also his boys, one of whom inherited the small estate. I have known them all for many years as I kept my horses with my friend when they lived in West Somerset.
Here is a pic of my new young horse, Duke, who I bought last October. My totally non-horsey old Mum is with him and this is probably the nearest she has got to one of my horses in xx years!

Hi Spotty Horse, I wonder if we've met? Is your horse a tall Section D kept near Tintinhull?
Liz and Lucy, where do you live? I'm in Glastonbury.

Getting ambitious now and want to see if I can post this photo for Liz! I'll skulk off in shame if it doesn't work ...

Never mind, Jane - it was a nice thought!!! here goes for another crack at posting the pic! BTW, Jane, I am in the Taunton area and my horse is kept on a farm near Bishops Lydeard, on the edge of the Quantock Hills. My old Mum and my horse, Duke.
