My horse is due to be wormed again in January and I was wondering whether I should stick with the wormer I've been using or whether I should change.
I've been following the Equest/Equitape regime for the last 4 months (the length of time I've had my horse) and I know that this is what he was wormed with by his previous owners.
I was wondering though whether I should change the wormer to make sure there are no tolerances built up. What do you think?

Equest/Equitape is fine to continue with. There is no known resistance. Unless you are able to worm count to see if you actually need to use wormers, you are best following the regime you are on.

Worming just got so complicated for me that I have mine off the vet. They phone up when it is time to go and collect them and I let them work out what/when. I don't know if it works out more expensive or not, when you tot it up wormers are quite pricey and they include the cost of a worm count once a year as well.

Pip, the recommended worming programme currently is Equest 4 times a year and either Equitape (alongside Equest) or Equimax on its own as a single dose in Spring and Autumn for tapeworm. You could also use double dose of Strongid P or a 5 day Panacur Equine Guard for tapeworm. It isn't difficult to work out. Put the dates in your diary to help you. I don't know how much your vets charge you but they do tend to be on the expensive side as opposed to tack shops or online.
Equest every 13 weeks, Spring = Tapeworm, Autumn = Tapeworm.
