I am looking for ideas for doing things with my neddie in the Spring as we used to enjoy clear round jumping and the odd jumping/show class here and there. Although we can still do some clear rounds, I now think neddie is going to find tight(er) corners and the hanging around difficult to cope with especially as jumping rings can be small and she can be a bit of a stiff girlie so I am looking for other activity ideas, as we both like to go out and about when we can. Thought of Hunter Trials as an alternative, ;D but does anyone have any other ideas, and if so, where I can get details of events. We are based in Sussex, and cannot travel too far! Thanks. K

Do a search on Trec. Its relatively knew over here but has really taken off. Made up of 3 sections: Orienteering, Control of Paces then the Obstacles. Its been described as a grown up version of handy Pony! Great fun and you don't have to be a top rider to do it, just a good partnership. there is a tiny bit of jumping but you don't have to do them, can miss out but points are dropped. You can also do it as a pairs team for a bit of courage. Many riding clubs offer this option. No age limit, from very young to very old just good fun.

What about jumpX as its sort of xc and sj mixed, have a look on the jumpcross website for venues/dates. Aslo you could do veteran show classes and go for the champs, think its super solvitax. Vet. website should tell you about this. Also beach/forest rides and if you want to you could fitten up and go for it with Endurance GB

Thanks for the ideas - we are in West Sussex, but on the East and Mid border, in the East Grinstead area.
Not quite veteran yet - both of us....
