Meg lost weight last winter, but hasnt this year and I think its down to the fact this year she has a neckcover! So isnt using any energy to keep warm.

Ours are on Dengie Alfa A Lite, Top Spec, unmolassed sugar beet and Simple Systems Instant Linseed for any that need a bit of extra condition or energy. They get ad lib hay when stabled and any living out are fed hay in the field. They are all holding condition well this winter, in fact, too well in some cases! They are in medium work (polo ponies) with trace clips and wear Rambo turnouts anda medium weight stable rug when in.
We took on a couple of horses at the beginning of winter that were in poor condition and they have done well on the same diet but with Baileys Ultimate Finish added to their feeds at the rate of about 1 pint per day.

What sort of horse have you got - age/size/breed? What routine is your horse on at the moment - rugs/turnout/feed etc?
That would help people to suggest more appropriate things to your situation.
