Haha WOO Im getting another ponnyyyy. yes yes yes.
Don't worry. I'm not going crazy.
I teach 2 5yr olds regularly, and I teach them on Peglet who is 14.3! Shes very good with them, but they cant reach higher than her legs to groom, or tack her up, and I worry about them going off lead rein on her because their legs dont reach down below saddle flaps .I also have had more ppl ring but I had to say no because Peg is Mums and cant be stealing her all the time. But yaaay can ponio of my own!
I was looking for a Po on loan, but was worried about affording his/her keep etc.
Buuttt I got a promotion and a pay rise at work .
I did a proper spreadsheet detailing all costs and I can easily afford another pony now. And My Bro is lending me £600 to get a ponyy yay.
I will have to sell said Pony when I go to Uni in Aug so am looking for something I can also bring on - my bro is lending me money so that he gets more back than he lent me when I sell the pony on.
hehe excitteedd..

Getting new horses/ponies is always fun!
Seen any you like? What sort of size/age are you after?

Have you found one yet or is the search just beginning? It is very exciting, if you ever feel like coming up this way I know of a few ponies looking for homes!

Just beginning search Nothing smaller than 12.2 otherwise I will squash it haha (I am 5'4, size 8-10). Not bigger than 13.3 due to wee 5 yr olds! Dont mind green, would prefer broken. If young, must be calm - for obvious reasons! Preferably not too old, as I do need higher resale value! I found a perfect one...in Leicstershire. grrr. Im in east kent, willing to travel max hour and a half. hehe the exciteemmennt. I'm going to sales on fri 13th eek. Techinically meant to be waiting til my bros payday...end of Jan. oh well!

Emily - would you stretch to 14.1? I 'may' know of a suitable pony for you..
P.S. Is that Ashford sales on the 13th? Might see you there if it is...

Its the Kent sales at Duckhurst
Ashford Sales are always on a thurs, annndd the next one is Feb sometime I believe. Normally last thursday every other month?
Ummm a fine 14.1, possibly. But, its still the problem of tacking up for small children.

I don't want to put a damper on this but just want to mention about insurance if you are teaching, it is there to protect you too.

Yes, I thought 14.1 is still a bit too big.
Duckhurst - of course! The next Ashford sale is 16th Feb - which is why I asked...

Hi Emily, I know he's a bit small as he's only 12hh but have you looked at my ad on the for sale section of this board (leopard spot gelding) I have someone riding him at the moment whos approx 7 stone (lightweight adult) and he's doing well but she is only riding him 2-3days per week and i'm struggling to find the extra time to long line/lunge him.. If you dont intend on keeping him too long, I would be more than happy to loan him out. To be honest, I would prefer to loan him than sell him cause I would like him for my children in the future but they are complete novices.

Ponio atm has 3rd party and public liability and all the whatsits for other people riding her, and the money I ask for is small - its just towards keep. New ponio shall also have insurance. ahh 12hh is a wee bit small Im afraid! Due to working at McDs I weight almost 9 stone now eek

Emily, I'm afraid that if you charge people to have lessons on your pony, even if it is only a couple of children and one pony, you need to apply for a licence from the local authority to run as a riding school. You could get into serious trouble if you operate without. If you aren't charging, I think but don't quote me, that you are OK, but as soon as you charge money you become a riding school in law.

hazelhorse is right - you do need insurance to cover yourself when teaching no matter how little or how much you do. God forbid if the worst happened and a child got hurt, you could be sued for a hell of a lot of money. The only way round it is to charge for the hire of the school and assist the children but you run a very high safety risk without insurance irrelevant as to how friendly you are with the children, accidents do happen unfortunately.
