hi,i put a thread up a while back about my horse bucking well she stopped doing it ,but since she bucked me off i lost my confidence on her so have only walked her since this happened. today i went for a hack there was four of us all horses was great well behaved until the inconsiderate guy we ride with decided to cross over the road and go for a canter all 3 horses was on there toes because of this, well my mare has started doing little rears when prancing in trot i calmed her down, then this flipping car drove over a bottle which spooked all the horses then my mare let off this HUGE buck,i managed to stay on but i dint know why she did it was it because she was scared or did she want to get me off?so she could gallop off down road,I'm so fed up i dint know why shes started bucking her tack is fine/teeth are fine etc ,any suggestions anyone please?

She did it because she had a series of exciting and alarming events happen. You stayed on and really, that was the incident over. But it's easy to say that in theory, being human we find these things scarey. I think you should pat yourself on the back for handling the situation. Be very specific next time you ride out with someone about what you want to do, explain you've had some scares and are not that confident at the moment. And maybe don't over-analyse things? Horses sometimes buck if they are excited and their riders need to restrain them a bit. You did good didn't you?

There are some really inconsiderate people out there. My ned bucks when in company and I know what you're going through I went to the beach recently with a kid from the stables and she shot past me in canter anyway my horse went ballistic, really chucking in some bucks. Since then I've not hacked out in company. Can you hack out with someone else on a quiet horse and get him used to company that way?

Normally i hack out with just 2 of my friends and the rides are great, every time this guy comes with us i no what to expect as soon as he sees a stubble he's off for it upsetting the other horses,he came trotting up behind us after coming out the stubble today our horses was going mad he then shouted is this my fault WELL DOH lol we all turned round and said yes it is
i am really pleased with staying on my horse even though she did pull my back mussels which are now a bit sore, the inconsiderate guy said all four feet was off the ground when she did it and said well done for staying on grrrrr,i told the guy that i had lost my nerve but he never seems to listen to me,I'm not going out with him again, his wife apologized for him (why the hell should she) i just hope he's learned his lesson,he's taking his horse hunting next week he will be taking over hunt master i can just see it happening ,I'm not taking my mare but a Friend who is very confident and can stay on huge bucks is taking my horse,I'm going on a steady gypsy cob.

good for you for staying on!! Now I will probably get my head chewed off for saying this but I think its a bloke thing!! Alot of horsey men I have come across never think about anything else when riding in company - they see a bit of grass and just chuck the reins away and go for a good old burn up!! Sad old gits!! (sorry to all the normal men around!!)

Funny you should say that ajb, mine thought that too when he first started riding, he is a novice rider and once we had one of the fastest gallops I have ever had he has not wanted too much speed since
Its not nice to be on the receiving end, I think I would have blown my top, I always ask every rider if leading if its OK to trot or canter etc, and if someone does not want to then we don't!

Thats what we do we allways ask each other,we have allready said we hope his horse p****s off on hunt with him as he is a novice,i think he might think twice next time if he does as this horse is an x-racehorse.
