Can anyone clarify for me - I have had my licence for years - but had my Dutch licence changed to a UK licence in 1997. The catergories I can drive are B1 and B. I have been searching through all the licening info I can find - and I think that I can tow my trailer - provided the trailer does not weigh more than the towing vehicle and that the total weight of both vehicles is less than 3500kg. Does this sound right - or am I driving illegally

The maximum laden weight of the trailer must not exceed the unladen weight of the car, and the combined maximum laden weights of both must not exceed 3500kg. this is regardles of whether you are tpowing a shetland or a shire the maximum weight must ot be over 3500kg. I am really struggling to find a combination so i can tow, as yet i have not found one!! do be verycareful better to do the car and trailer test B+E to be on the safe side cos you could lose your licence or something. dont mean to be scary or harsh but i know that i would be lost without my licence! I hope it helps. The rules are quite well explained on www.horsedata.co.ukworth a look.
