Hi
Have been reading with interest the thread re Safecobs the dealers. If I have to retire my h/s then i was curious to see which dealers people had thought were good. Years ago when i was looking to buy a horse (safe cob type) i had been to a couple of yards which were awful, hence made me very wary. Has anyone had luck with Lynne Russel or John Gardiner horses (aka Blackboys stud)? These are my 'local' ones.
Happy New Year

Dear Dione
I have had experience with both SafeCobs and Lyn Russell. They are total opposites of the spectrum in everything except price. I would recommend SafeCobs - they are very helpful and friendly and not pushy. 'Phone Lia on her mobile (I think its on the website, if not I've probably got it somewhere. Long story, I was going to buy one from them, but didn't and Lia sold a horse for me (one I had bought from Lynn Russell!). Lia was very helpful; nothing too much trouble and sold my horse without a hitch.
I bought a cob from Lynn. I have no-one to blame but myself as I should have taken him out on his own. Instead I relied on their word that he was OK. He was a fab chap, but too green for me (I am a wuss). Lynn was not really interested in my situation, just in selling a horse vaguely to the right person (or not). When I decided to sell my horse, I e-mailed her first as she has a "we will sell your horse for you, if you bought it from us" policy, but she didn't even acknowledge. Having said that, Lynn sells very good horses, but you have to be sharp with her. For a little lady she has a big personality.
Both import, work with the horses then sell them on. Lynn buys from Ireland, SafeCobs mainly from the continent.
Any other info, please let me know.
