It seems to me that horses take after their owners after a while. Mine is daft as a brush....
Looking at other horse/carer partnerships, if they know each other well, they seem to become like each other. I have known horses I would call bouncy, nervous, snooty, inquisitive, and their owners are often likewise.
So, do they learn to be like us, do we learn to behave like them, or do we just instinctively pick horses that are like us to start with?

I do actually believe SOME horses are like their owners, in which the way we are around them and treat them.
Beau is a senstive pony and usually pretty quiet and caring; (like me) to the point if your in trouble I think he'd be there to help you!!!! If he could!!
Lennie: Apart from being nervous when I got him,; he's also senstive and calm for a young pony. Also think if I were having troubles riding him he'd slow down to help me out....

Well I did have a golden palomino welsh arab for 20 years, he was a right tart, daft as a brush, wicked sense of humour and totally aloof (didn't like humans or other horses!) so that was prob me however i now have a demented hairy jet black pony mare with a heart of gold and stamina to beat the pants off anyone, she's a real trier in all ways so maybe i have mellowed with age and a daughter? However I have no intentions of dying me hair black !

Hamish picked me I think. We are similar, in that we are both caring and loving, and we like our food!! Also, we make eachother nervous cos we both have underlying issues to be resolved - match made in heaven?! I love him dearly though, and I think he loves me - especially when I bring his feed to him!!!

I could be off base here, but I think they do absorb and share our personalities. I really think that this is the case with the more intellient horses.
My horse, Magic and I are like two peas in a pod. We're both easy going, sensitive, and prone to moodiness. I know that statement can describe just about any horse, but it's really uncanny how close we are in personality.
My OH's horse IS exactly like my OH... he's dominant, bossy and arrogant!! It's actually very funny, because they are so alike.
