Dear Moderators,
I do understand and even to a degree sympathise with the automatic censorship on this board. But, frankly, some of it is silly. This is a board where medical stuff is discussed. All stallions and geldings have penises. All mares have vulva. It is utterly exasperating not to be allowed to discuss them, without finding these ‘pornographic’ (I think not!) words bleeped out. Likewise, pussy may be a rude word in the U S of A but in this country it is used almost universally for a domestic cat. Bleeping it out to girl thingy just makes it rude, which it is not, not for us. Please, do give some consideration to changing this.

Hi Rosemary, I think this question has been raised before. The censorship is set by ProBoards, not us, so unfortunately there is nothing that we can do about it.

Hi Rosemary, I think this question has been raised before. The censorship is set by ProBoards, not us, so unfortunately there is nothing that we can do about it. This is not true. I administrate another proboard, if you go to the admin area, in the bottom right there is a link to censored words, where you can change what is censored and how.

Thats right, I found this to be a problem too, but the censored words list is easily changeable as cubic suggests.
My main problem was the list was mostly American swear words which are not necessarily offensive in Britain, it all got very confusing when the censor filter changed it! Also the list did not contain certain highly offensive British swear words (I had to add them myself).

Proboards have some set, we have set the others. We have tried to keep the censorship to a minimum but words that have already been used inappropriately on the board and deemed unacceptable will stay censored for the time being.
