I have owned my horse for 14 years (since he was 2) and he has had annual flu vaccinations with tetanus when necessary for all that time. I have heard recently that there is a move to stop vaccinating when a horse has reached middle age and has been done regularly.
I only hack him and have no plans to compete, and his field companions only hack too so he is at very low risk of flu or anything else.
If I could stop it would be great, as apart from the cost, he is terrified of vets and needles so it is stressful for him.
What does anyone else think?
