Hi everyone
I'm looking for something to tow my trailer with and just wondered what vehicles people are using or any suggestions for the most economic & reliable fuel guzzler? (if there is such a thing)
I have an Ifor Williams trailer which weighs about 1 tonne + a 16.2hh tb mare. I probably only take her anywhere in the trailer once/twice a month fairly locally, the rest of the time it would be used for every day commute to work which is also local.
I've been looking at the VW Tiguan but there are very mixed reviews - does anyone have any thoughts on this one?
Also, any thoughts on automatic/manual? I've only ever towed with a manual but I've read on other forums that some people prefer to tow with automatic - not sure about going down steep hills without gear control though.
Thanks
Sophie

I have a Mitsubishi Pajero...and wouldn’t change it! I’ve had it since 2006 and it’s towed my Ifor 505 & 506 with up to 2 big horses in very comfortably and reliably...several time from Northern Ireland to Oxfordshire and back again. It’s also easy to service (according to my garage), easy to drive and park and the parts are easy to get and not expensive ....I’ve toyed with replacing it recently but ended up deciding to keep it as it’s still going strong!
