Stroppy mare won't leave her new friends help

Hello,

im new to this so please bear with me.

i have owned my horse for 7 years since she was a foal and she has always lived out with my gelding happily came into her stable , tied up and hacked out on her own.

about 6 weeks ago we moved yards and the problems have started I gave her a few weeks off to settle in as she is now running in a herd of 8 , mare and gelding. The problem now being is she doesn't want to leave her new friends to come out with me. She will walk out of the field and then the herd calls her and she goes mad rearing, trying to barge me and running round in circles calling constantly.When I do get her to the yard she tries to break free of her tie up and twice has succeeded and jumped a 5ft fence to get back out to them (I did on both occasions catch her easily and brought her back onto the yard) I managed to hack her out on Sunday with my other horse but she screamed all the way around and my usual dope on a rope turned in a jogging screaming monster. Which was unpleasant.

today brought her in for a groom and she wouldn't stand still and constantly called to her friends and when they called back to her she threw a paddy trying to escape back to them. She won't stay calm in her stable bucking rearing and kicking the walls even when her old companion  is next door to her.

im at a loss what to do with her she's not the horse I'm use to and is severely knocking my confidence as I've never seen her behave like this before.?

any advice would be appreciated.....

my thoughts are move her out of the herd and back on her own with my gelding - but with the others in the field next to her.

Whereabouts are you? I think a session with your local RA would be of enormous benefit

Thank you I do have a ra local to me which I'm waiting for a call back from - she was backed using the ih method but seems to be ignoring all she has learnt !

Wow this sounds so familiar, my gelding is exactly the same, severe separation anxiety. He will not go out without his best friend or come in without her. If he's in and she goes out he goes mad. He weaves anyway and this only gets heightened when this happens. see what your your RA can do for you. Good luck.

In the meantime, before you get an RA out, you could try breaking it down into tiny steps. Try just catching her in the field, giving her a nice stroke and letting her go. Then catch her, take her just outside the gate (perhaps give her a little bit of something tasty in a bucket) then turn her out in the field again.
Build up to leading her away and bringing her back, extending it a little further or for a little bit longer each time. Aim to get to the point where she's just a little bit worried / tense but not panicking, wait for her to calm down (or distract her with some groundwork) then take her back.

The problem of taking her away, having her panic and then turning her back out while she's still stressed is that it teaches her that by reacting strongly she gets the 'reward' of being taken back to the others.
