Does anybody at all have any idea of an insect repellent that goes along the spine of the horse???
Spring is being so so stroppy because she's itchy!!!

The midges are really bad this year (due to the weather we've had); Harry went absolutely nuts with the itching, it was a bit of a build up and despite doing my usual preventions; he usually has itchy feathers (as heavy horse type) and rubs his mane and tail, although nothing too serious, but this year it was just affecting his body. Last week it was really bad and I had to get the vet out. Vet agreed about midges and weather conditions, so gave him a steroid injection and then a treatment called Deosect which I had to spray over him. He is certainly a lot better now I also had to put a fly sheet on. I hope Spring isn't that bad, I have been using a citronela gel and a shampoo called Selena which I have to get from the vets, these have worked better than anything else I've used in the past but he was beyond that this year.

She's not too bad, just irritable! I tried some citronella spray on her today, but the spray spooked her, and when I tried spraying it into my hand and rubbing it on her she didn't like the smell!!

I have spent a fortune on sprays, rugs and hoods. No spray works on these welsh midges in this humid weather. Feel sorry for my horses especially my big mare who is pacing about. We need some wind to blow hem away

I have midge land here, they eat you alive, the only thing that works for mine is midge rugs and I have fan's in the shelters that they can get into to get away from them, the fan's work as midges don't like wind, they can't fly to good in the wind.
so the fans are on 24/7 and if they get to much useally at dawn and dusk they go into their shelters.
