Have just bought a 9 year old highland mare, who's been out of work through no fault of her own, for a year, I am going to start on ground work for a while, and build up her fitness, and bonding time, she was professionally produced in the past, any advice for getting on board for the first time when the time comes ??

Hi dundeal,I think how your going to start sounds great, lots of ground work, I am no expert or in riding but what about then putting the ground work but in riding afterwards? so you grow your bonding time in riding together, through long linging, and then long linging out a nice hack and so on? you can always get some help from a recommanded associate from your own area

or better still book yourself and your horse on a perfect manners course, if I had a new horse thats what I do, what a better way to go forwards with your horse
