Right guys,
Last year i took a horse on "full loan" I pay everything for him obviously he's come on leaps and bounds since he's been with me his owner never keeps in contact or asks hows he's doing or contributed to anything (which I don't mind) could she just turn around and say I want the horse back?

Yes is the short answer, I'm afraid that's the downside of loaning.
Has she hinted that she might want the horse back?

Basically last year she wanted 600 for him because he was naughty wouldn't do anything I love him to bits ive got him jumping and absolutely everything now and she wants 2500 for him seems unfair if you ask me ... Ive got the money it's just principle of thing x

That doesn't sound fair but it does happen unfortunately, and the poor loaner gets used..

I think the only way to protect against this sort of thing is to have a loan contract (or rather, a loan with option to buy contract) that specifies the horse's value at the beginning of the loan period, and that the loaner has the option to buy the horse at this price within/up to some period of time. Otherwise, the owner is fully within his/her rights to demand the horse back and sell him for whatever price they deem reasonable. It certainly isn't fair though.

It is very unfortunate, you have my sympathies, this happened to me as a teenager although I had outgrown the pony by the time he was actually sold but still I put blood sweat and tears into that pony and got no thanks, the owner made a killing!!
Doesn't seem at all fair but now I see that I learnt so much with that pony and from him and about humility!!

Even if there is a contract they can still take him back. If you don't have a written agreement re price I'm afraid your scuppered. It's the down side of loaning - seen it happen a few times.
