Yesterday i boxed my herd up to bring them home, well no i boxed Troopa and Dets up but Baffle refused "again" Over two hours later he finally wondered in and travelled fine but i was frazzled he was frazzled and so was my other half as we finally rolled up back home t 10pm. I am afraid to say i lost my temper and feel awful about it as of course it didnt help me shouting like a loon. I feel like a complete failure and of course this morning i had to upset him again as they seem to have picked up a few lice from the cattle and were covered in bot eggs. Baffle is frightened of everything and it took me another 3 hours this morning to get louse powder on him (with a body brush) and just to pull/brush off the eggs i dont know whats wrong with me as i got grumpy again so sent him out from the herd and dealt with the other two who of course behave impeccably without headcollar and just let me do everything with not a peep. hen i let Baffle back in he stood much better so perhaps the break heped but my OH now refuses to box Baffle anywhere again or suggested i get rid of him. Im so tired and miserable today and im sure poor Baffle must have hurt his poll again after being such a dufus yesterday so now im getting the osteo out again to mke sure he is ok. On a plus side Baffles tendons held up to running about on his legs and there is no pufiness or heat so atleast thats healed well. Sigh!!!!

Oh Troop, I'm sorry you're feeling so grim. It happens sadly, we are only human, and now and again it all gets a bit much - but I've been there too and I've just felt such a brute afterwards.
You need some quality time with Baffle now, just you and him - maybe teach him something fun, which doesn't really matter, like shaking his 'hand' for a treat, or standing on a block like a circus horse. Communication, but with no pressure to succeed. Worked for me to re-establish my relationship with a youngster many years ago, when we'd had a seriously bad time involving long-reins which left him very rattled and me feeling utterly wretched. This is just a blip, and you'll be fine. xx

As Liz has just said, you're only human! You're not the only IH person to loose their temper when things don't go right, even though you know you shouldn't while you're doing it! We just don't like to admit it!

take a deep breath, sit down and have a cup of tea xx I fully concur with PB on this Troop, take a breath, don't beat yourself up because horses don't co-operate. be kinder to yourself particularly in times of stress and angst. big

He'll have moved on, and so must you. Don't be too hard on yourself, we all make mistakes, if we didn't, we wouldn't learn anything! You're human, and Baffle will allow for that! Give yourself a break, and then practice when you've got hours and hours, and you're not stressed! Agree with the others' comments too, some very helpful guys on here! I used to walk away from William, when I found myself getting wound up, but in the situation you were in, obviously you can't. It'll all work out in the end. Big hugs xx

When all's said and done, Troop, you of all people are allowed a blip now and again, seeing as how you have made such a huge and wonderful difference to so many unwanted and unloved animals' lives. I am totally in awe of all you've managed to achieve given your circumstances - you really are a star.
