Hi beccy, the weekend courses are theoretical so you spend most of them sitting down. The 5 day course and the Intermediate courses are much more hands on, so it depends which course(s) you are interested in. If you have any concerns, the ladies in the IH office are very helpful and will be able to give further advice if you give them a call

From the level 1 courses, the only bit where there's a bit of a walk is taking ponies out long lining but there are lots of seating areas around round pens. The 5 day foundation does a mix of classroom and practical sections - there's a bit of longlining but there are lots of areas for seating around round pens. Horse Psychology is class based, as are the feeding and nutrition a maintenance of horse courses (don't expect to be sat all day and talked at - they're really interactive). The stud and foal courses were a mix of class room and practical but not huge amounts of walking. The IH team are so helpful they would be able to advise.

I've just recently come home from doing my third IH course and I say don't let your disability put you off making the most of them. You will be fine and you'll love it. Just let the office know when you book, and the tutors on the courses, and they will make sure you are catered for. As was said above, there is not much walking involved, and plenty of opportunities to grab a sit down even on the more practical courses. One thing that may be a slight issue is long-lining the ponies round the village on the 5 day course, but there's sure to be solutions or alternatives if you make the tutors aware of your situation. Have fun and welcome to the forum

Hi Beccy,
Call the IH office on 01488 71300 and have a chat with them. Explain what your limitations are and they'll be able to advise you. One thing about IH, though, is that it can be very flexible so there is usually a way of accommodating everyone's needs.
