A friend is in a sticky dilemma, X filmed a young pony ( in progress of backing) being chased around the school with lunge whip (with rider Y on top, who quit after the incident) It's filmed on the property owned by the person doing the chasing (they knew it was being filmed)and I think world should see as these people advertise services for breaking/full livery. Friend is worried where they would stand legally if they published the video?

Did the person doing the chasing know your friend was filming at the time? If they did, and they didn't ask her not to or stipulate any terms of filming I would think they'd struggle to have any right to object to how she uses it. Although of course even if they gave permission they could just deny it.

You could post it without comment. I think you'd be on dodgy ground if you started making derogatory remarks based on it but could post it and let the audience decide?

It is a really really difficult situation. They knew it was being filmed as the other one of them stood right next to one of them. This is just a tip of the iceberg I'm sad to say. Friend has been sent threatening messages and they are trying to blackmail friend into silence. Needless to say all messages are saved and by looks of things police is going to be involved..

In that case probably unwise to publish, just as useful to keep as evidence for any police prosecution.

Lawyerbunny was on here a few days ago - might be an idea to PM her. Shame if you can't let everyone know though
