Bizarre situation really. Because of where I live (really exposed) I've been wearing ear plugs to keep out the noise of the wind when in the stables. Often I keep the earplugs in until getting ready for work and have noticed that because I can't hear the wind I'm significantly calmer and the horses seem much more chilled out. Its as though because that sense has gone I seem to be in a bit of a "muffled" world and can cope much better. Am thinking I might wear them more when doing things with the horses in general and see if the effect works when hacking, etc.

No not tried it but it seems to make sense, a primary school teacher remarked that at playtime give me rain snow anything but wind as the children were always more short tempered and agitated

Very interesting. It sort of makes sense as I know when Im alert or nervous I really notice all the noises around me. As long as I could still hear a reasonable amount it would be ok as I would want to be able to hear traffic approaching etc if hacking

Bit of subject but had to laugh reading this; in my role as a foster carer I often resort to ear plugs to take the stress out of situations, wailing four year olds, nagging teenagers, (whinging hubby) really works especially with teens. I have been thinking of putting them in during mucking out as the yard bitching is driving me mad! too much rain not enough turn-out.
