ooo ek sorry about letters. How do i find out about who owns land that is being leased out? It is currently rented and wrecked by x boss. i cant ask him as it seems he has done a runner ( :/ mmm yeah) aND ANYHOW HE HAS CHANGED STORY EACH PREVIOUS TIME I HAVE ASKED. GGGR LETTERs. To begin with it was a year agreement then it became a 3 year year agreement first it was due in October then it became all paid up recently. Sooooo i am interested in the piece of land apparently the owner lives in Manchester and that is all i know. It would be pretty perfect for me especially if the work yard does just close. So just incase i would like to have dibs on it. It needs resting and ragwort removal plus some fencing but it has direct access to mountain plus beach

Try the Land Registry, as long as you have his name and the property name you should be able to find it online

Funnily enough I was looking on there today, when you use the page 'find a property' you have the option to look at it on a map, I couldn't find it but I hadn't logged in so maybe when you log in you see another menu.

The Land Registry tend to identify properties by address so if it is a piece of land you will need to show it on a map/plan for them. I presume it is in Wales Troop, so speak to the Land Registry at Swansea, although all their records are on a central computer so any office could tell you the answer if you get a plan to them. It will cost you (used to be £4) and assumes the land is registered (i.e. has changed hands in the last 20ish years) - it will give you the details of the owner of the freehold/any leases over 7 years duration.

I think i found it but it cost 34 quid to get info online From which site? LR do sell info to other sites who put their own mark up on, so you might get it significantly cheaper form LR themselves. Any ratable buildings on it? If so the local authority will know who pays.

Wow. Sorry. How things have started to fall apart since I left Map search used to be free, property ownership or register of title was £4 - that was sensible, it's a rip off now.

It's a bit like the Ordnance Survey - the information was gathered by public servants, and in LRs case, a fee was levied on every application which gave rise to the data now available. IMHO it should be a nominal fee, especially as it is all computerised now and all they have to do is a few mouse clicks

Troop I just found out that was a bogus web site and this is the real one - www.landregistry.gov.uk/public/property-ownership - fees are still as I thought, around £4. The ex colleague who confirmed that for me is going to let the Telford office know, maybe you should tell them if/when you do order the information you want.
