Today while out on one of my dog walks there was a bit of noisy commotion with two birds... One of the dogs chased one while the other just stayed put in a tree... so I had a look.. It was quite big.. well bigger than a blackbird, smaller than a fat pigeon. Had a speckled chest, so I thought it was a thrush, but actually bigger than a thrush, so I googled it (good old smarty pants phones these days...) and I think it was a Fieldfare thrush apparently they are quite rare now.. so to see two in the same place.. www.bbc.co.uk/nature/life/FieldfareI did get some pics of it, but it may as well be 100 miles away to get any decent look at it...

We have quite a few here over the winter, usually single or pairs but this spring there was a flock.

How lovely! I had a bit of a surprise this morning - there was a sparrow hawk drinking from the horses' water trough. It flew up to a tree when I went past, but was less than 3 metres from me as it went by, and stopped in a tree just above my head. I was astonished.

Troop, maybe a thread for all the unusual birds seen? rather than a group.. or is that what you meant?
