For those on Facebook could you have a look at this link and LIKE it to add some support. Last week the Edinburgh Evening News did a story on a "dog trainer" who calls himself "the Mexican Dog Whisperer" (nothing to do with Cesar Millan who is no better) unlike horse whisperers his methods include Alpha Rolling or pinning the dog down, use of the electric collar, kicking, and other such ways. The EEN also mentioned giving this man a regular column in the paper. This will not only send out the message that this is the way to train your dog, but it could also encourage people who think they know what they are doing to copy this, and could end up being bitten by their dog who will no doubt end up being put down. The campaign is not solely for residents of Edinburgh but for EVERY dog owner/business/ or whoever is working in the dog sector, who believes that is not the way to successfully train your dog to be a good natured balanced dog. www.facebook.com/saynotomexicandogwhisperer?fref=tsa pic from his website www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1415402825361846&set=a.1415402805361848.1073741827.1415146425387486&type=1&theater

Thanks Ladyndibs
I know Say No admin have contacted the paper to voice concerns over allowing this man to have his own column and the way the training presents to others, but have yet to get a detailed reply

This is the reply from the paper
"A response is in from the Edinburgh Evening News. Their view is that the column intended is to give useful and non-contentious advice to dog owners and not promote any particular school of thought. The have offered to widen the column to give advice from two other trainers and asked us to nominate from our group of supporters if we wish. However this does mean that they are not prepared to drop Mr Del Valle. We are concerned that the intended topics which are due to be published around Xmas and are New Year are aimed at those welcoming a new dog into their home, something which is not advised at that time of year- particularly not giving puppies as gifts. We welcome your thoughts on what you, as supporters, think of these suggestions and what you think we should do next. Please remember to be polite in any responses. --Admin Team--"

Thanks to those who liked the page, this has just been posted on FB by the community page
WE DID IT!!!!!!!! Thanks to all your amazing support and the ongoing campaigning it has just been confirmed by email that there will no longer be a column by the Mexican Dog Whisperer in the Edinburgh Evening News. It might be one small step for animal welfare but it's a fantastic feat that so many local businesses, organisations and dog owners united as one. Simply wooftastic!
Thanks to everyone who liked the page and lent their support xxx
