Hi. Thanks for your good wishes. Op went well. On feet Tues, very poorly yesterday extremely tired with low blood pressure. Walked to bathroom today and attempted a few stairs. They are keeping me in a bit longer because of that and because I live alone. It hurts but getting better. They have to sort out effective pain relief, too. Xxx

ahh.... great to hear from you, I did wonder if the morphine (?) was making you a bit ill - it does too a lot of people.. I sail through it, but have seen people very ill with it.
Hope you continue to recover and get out by next week. Hope the hospital food isn't too bad xx

Great news that you are out the other side now - hope you continue to improve. I can't get on with morphine based pain relief either, makes me feel so limp and ill, so if that is the problem I hope they can find you a good alternative. It'll soon all be in the past and you can get on with life.

Home, home at last! Now for some enforced rest punctuated by bits of exercise! Still sore but very much better even though the painkillers and antibiotics have resulted in a very upset gut - bleugh - feel so sick. I expect that will go in a few days. On wards, my friends, onwards!

On wards, my friends, onwards! that's brilliant news you'll feel so much better by next week when the anti bs have stopped... apart from all that how does the hip feel? I felt an instant difference after mine, even though I had an 3 hour op because of the extra things needed.

Are you at your home or a friends? Just that I thought you said you would be staying with a friend for a while.
Take care, Liz and know that we are all wishing you well and thinking of you. XXXXXX

I am a t home - staying with a friends was an option but post op hospital care not available there as out of district covered. An early bed tonight to try and get a good sleep = impossible in hospital as in a temp ward pending removal to state of the art building. It was VERY NOISY!!

Don't underestimate the effects of anaesthetic - it takes a fair while to recover from, depending on how long you were under. I was still tiring very quickly weeks after mine - take it easy, keep warm and treat yourself to something nice

It takes around 6 months for the anaesthetic to leave your body completely, even if you are not feeling the effects, it doesn't matter if it was a GA or sedation

Thank you, all. Yesterday was HORRENDOUS. I had panic attack after panic attack as I was so scared to be alone at home. One of my wonderful friends came hotfooting it round and helped me through it. I went to bed late evening feeling very much better and calmer and managed a good sleep, waking only a couple of times due to discomfort. I feel very weak today but have managed to have some toast and marmalade and a good cup of coffee. Nurse coming soon to change my dressing and another old friend calling later on. Ex foster daughter is also coming soon to wash and blow dry my hair - I cannot wait to get in the shower again!

Just rest up as much as possible, do the exercises they have given you, but don't push it! Take advantage of everyone and let yourself be spoiled for a while, you need cossetting now
