Can anyone who has those 'Brain Games for Dogs' books tell me if there are many ideas in there that don't require physical exercise? Recalls are totally out for us at the moment, I can't throw anything for him at all and no games of tug etc.

I have started throwing treats in garden or house and telling him to find he LOVES this game. The more treats or in his case dinner i leave hidden the happier he gets snuffling around.

Michelle, I've got my book out! How about weaving around your legs? (Not too strenuous, although awkward if you are 4ft with a Wolfhound!)Or filling a cardboard box with paper and treats, so you dog has to rummage through the paper to find them (Unless rummaging isn't a good idea at the moment!)Learning the names of toys, so they can be retrieved from a pile by name. Balancing a treat on the nose or paws. Searching for a treat under flower pots or similar. Touching a target. Fetch the food bowl... Another game I play, is guess which hand the treat is in!

Yes my little girls love this one! Big dog gets too excited with food find it so it doesn't work well, but the girls really enjoy it, with kizi I can hide it anywhere and if I say find it she'll keep looking until she does. She loves brain challenges the most of all 3! Bubbles bore her a little haha but eile doesn't quite understand bubbles.. Tho it has taken her 3+ years to understand why I get so excited when she goes toilet OUTSIDE! Find it is a fab game!! When big dog (mac) was younger I could send him out while I hid stuff and he'd wait until I told him come search!!

Probably not eh weaving, but yes those other things are great ideas, teaching him toys by name and to touch my hand / a target etc, thanks!
