Hi,
Can anyone please suggest a joint supplement for my 20 y o Lippizaner? He has an old injury which he is sound on but is now getting a little stiff in his knees.
I'm all for saving money and anything 'homemade' or simple, as against a pot of something costing £20 +.
Sarah.

I'm asking the same thing! lol I did find equine america kentucky joint supplement helpful for those who are just a bit stiff.. its not expensive (£20 for 2 months supply.. lasted me ages though with my little ones! lol)
Equally... strange as it might sound and an idea elaine at emw gave me.. was salt... just adding a teaspoon of salt to there feed twice a day (teaspoon for minis.. maybe a bit more for your guy lol) don't know how, why or what... but.. i do think it has helped some....:/

It might well be worth trying micronised linseed. It's not a chemical, cheap if you buy a big sac and it is generally good for skin and coat as well. Some horses seem to do really well on it for stiffness, others not so much.

If he's stiff after resting then better for moving about try Rhus Tox homeopathic rem, if he's worse for moving / better for rest try Bryonia. You can get them from shops or online cheaply, and in my experience, most homeopaths are very helpful if you just give them a call for advice

My friend feeds her old boy turmeric, and it has really helped him. Mine, of course, won't eat something cheap *sigh*
He has suppleaze gold, which is also being good for him. We also had success with Premierflex HA.

I feed Premierflex HA, as well as micronised linseed, turmeric and meadowsweet. They also get some devils claw tincture when they need it, like this last week with it being a bit colder and lots of snow meaning they haven't been out for as long, they've been a bit stiffer, so they've had the devils claw in their feed, which seems to have helped a bit.

Have had really good results with Vetvits for my 15yr old dog so have now started my 16yr horse on the horse version.
