Police have full on given up I had a horse stolen in July 12 while waiting for him to be gelded (friend has a few colts so he was staying there until gelded as YO at the time wouldn't allow colts). I check dragon driving, horsemart etc weekly, he's on tracing horses etc. Massive problem is that he's got nothing remarkable or recognizable for people to spot him with At this point, I just want to know he's ok and I'm more than happy to sign his passport etc over to a good owner is he has one but I just need to know. Any ideas where else I can look?

Don't know what to say other than how sorry I am to hear about your horse. I can't imagine how you are coping. I suppose the best thing to do is a monthly reminder on all the horse forums you can think off and maybe a facebook group? Just try and keep him fresh in peoples minds. Maybe post a pic on here too?
Best of luck. x

Send pictures to the local auction houses, can I just ask if he was a cob type? If he was there could be a possibility of being in the travelling community

Pictures as has been said and keep checking all the sites you have posted on, ask people to be aware of him at livery/riding/stable yards, ask around if anyone has bought him, or been offered one like him for sale on the cheap...................feed merchants and tack shops as well are good sources to put posters....................hope you get him back

Sorry to hear but yes, in the scheme of things, the police have 'more important things' to deal with. Your hoss is just another item of stolen property, and he can't even be identified even if he's found. As a youngster he'll be changing all the time - colour, size & shape - it's very very difficult. I guess he wasn't microchipped? Anyway, presumably you have contacted Derbyshire Horsewatch and they have already circulated his details around the country with the crime ref no. All I can suggest is that you ask them to do it again. And if you have photos of any older brothers it might help guess what he looks like now and in the spring. And if you have any hairs in grooming brushes etc, store them carefully in case DNA tests required in the future.

rj, that's a useful thought about the hairs. Do you know if there's a particular way they should be stored? Uksj, very sorry you have had to go through this. Sent from my GT-I9100 using proboards

Echo the above, I'm so sorry he hasn't been found.
We used facebook and twitter when Teasel (dog) was missing and it was amazing how many people you can get to join as friends of a lost animal appeal - lots of rescues and clubs joined us and shared it with all their friends. Multiples of hundreds at a time really add up.
I've also seen lost horse appeals on Dog Lost so it's worth contacting them.
Fingers crossed for some news... x

Hes a beauty, if you can get the true travellers onsite then thats a definite help as more than likely theyll hear of it if he comes for sale, if you know who stole him can you get contact details in any way? Just thinking of someone he doesnt know phoning seeing if he can source a pony similar in description?

I don't know about storing hair for DNA, but guess anywhere cool & dry in an airtight box would do? Will try & find out via police or vet.... The photo link doesn't work on my computer. I've found the FB group but can't 'share' info, so if you go to Beds Horsewatch Page (not Group) & put a link to pic of him on there with some info I'll get is sent round. I know you said the police had given up, but there are some dedicated police horsey people involved with W Yorks HW so see if you can get hold of someone who WANTS to help. Makes all the difference!
