OK my daughter is 12 she is tall and has size 7 feet and needs something to wear for riding in, the trouble is we are broke and really don't want to spend over a £100 on something she will grow out of in 6 months and no one else in my family take a size 7, so I can't even pass them on. They need to be practical not fashionable, waterproof and warm, she won't wear muck boots or anything neoprene as she sweats a lot in them (she used to wear mine) We also don't really want hiking boots and chaps as the mud spread getting out of them at age 12 can look like a fight has happened in the porch!! Any ideas ? Got to be under about £80...

Is it just for riding?
You could try ebay for second hand leather riding boots, already broken in!
Or there are various options of country/riding boots, Dublin or toggi you would probably get for within your price range. Try looking on the rideaway website, think they had a few offers on

Have you tried looking in decathlon, tesco or lidl or aldi? They often have really good value riding kit. I greatly sympathise as I have size 9 1/2 feet

Toggi Calgary, fab hard wearing boot, both me and daughter have them, we are size 7's and only need a 6 in these, warm, comfortable straight away and take some pounding from us both. You can get them for around £70 new or second hand around £40.
Failing that, Mountain Horse Rimfrost if you can get the old style, they come up on Ebay and I got mine for £50, they are generous around the calf though and a bit clumpy to be honest.

I've got HKM boots, the ones that are copies of some much more expensive makes, they only cost £65 off ebay plus some spray to put on them to make sure they were waterproof. They're general riding and yard work waterproof but I don't generally go wading through knee deep mud or puddles in mine.

Thanks guys, just kept being caught by what looked nice then were £140+, I'll have a look for the toggi calgary and try ebay, always difficult buying 2nd hand boots as you can't really return them if they don't fit. But a few ideas here for me to follow up on, thanks.

toggi calgary. I have had mine all "summer" and they have been hammered daily - all day often and are still keeping my feet warm and dry. I really like Ariat Devon pros for foot support but these Toggis make me feel just as comfortable

My toggi calgarys must have been faulty then! They were comfy to start with until the footbed fell apart leaving me walking on a lumpy sole. Then the waterproofing gave in and I threw them out after about 10 months. Complete waste of money. Also after a few rides I gave up riding in them because they're made of such tough leather on the leg that you can't feel the horse's sides through them until you're already squeezing the horse.
Most of the time I owned my toggi's I chose to wear my hunters instead which were freezing cold but at least they were waterproof and allowed me to ride more sensitively with my leg. The hunters gave up after about 18 months so now I'm onto muckboots!
