Hi, my warmblood has mud fever on his hind legs due to the amount of rain we have had! I am looking at the turnout socks/boots, has anyone used these? Are the any good? If they are which size do you think would be best? If not what is the best treatment for it? Any help would be great!

I wouldn't personally use the socks as they would hold the damp against warm skin, creating the perfect environment for mud fever. Do a search on here for MF as there are loads of posts lately with lots of different treatments. I put pig oil and sulphur on my horses legs to stop the mud and wet getting into the skin. Has worked so far and mine are knee deep in mud atm, 24/7

Well I tend to agree about that too, however, we have such sticky/heavy clay soil, and such a wet field, and I'm so sick of MF despite using pig oil since summer, I have just bought a set of Equichaps. I like them cos they're not just a neoprene sock, and they come down really low on the leg. At least she'll have clean dry legs when she can go back out, and even if a bit of dirt gets in, it'll be nothing compared to sloshing around in wet clay! Equilibrium have a size guide on their site, I needed 2 different ones for front & hind
