Hi, I'm in Stroud. It's a beautiful area. There are a lot of small private yards round here that you'd mostly find out about through advertising or word of mouth, but I've listed some of the bigger ones below. I have no experience of them from a livery point of view but have been riding on school horses at some of them: www.bartonendstables.co.uk/ - I had a few lessons here a coupke of years ago on their school horses, as well as going on some hacks - there's really good off road hacking and the school facilities are lovely. The staff seemed pretty friendly and the school horses were nice. There's an indoor and outdoor school. www.burntashfarm.co.uk/WP/equestrian/livery/ - went for a really cold Boxing Day ride out from here, a good few years ago now, which was great fun. It's a properly fabulous area for hacking as you've got the expanse of Minchinhampton Common. Can't remember if there's an indoor school but pretty sure there's an outdoor one. www.tumpygreenequestriancentre.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=60&Itemid=27 - Had a couple of lessons here, again a few years ago. Wasn't quite so keen on the instructors as at Barton End, but the yard and facilities were good, and they've again got some great off road hacking and I think they have their own cross country course, if you're into that sort of thing. I think they have an indoor and outdoor school. arionequine.co.uk - posh livery yard on another of the commons, Selsley Common. Again some lovely off and on road hacking. This is the closest yard to where I used to keep my ponies, so I know the hacking is good, but don't know anything about the yard as it was beyond my means! I know they've got an indoor and outdoor school though. Hope those give you somewhere to start, anyway - good luck on your search! Nic
