He was a star yesterday teaching a child yes a child to lunge yesterday (he normally hates kids with a vengeance) then today we had him long reining ready to go back in his trap. Just need a light person to get him a bit better schooled ridden too and he will be perfect Still trying to make him useful so I dont have to have him PTS if I cant keep him as OH is now out of work and we have no income now. I have put money aside to do this should it have to happen but it would be such a shame as he is only 8 but I wont let him suffer or go to be abused or shoved from pillar to post

Hi Highlander,
Bless him, that's good. What's been up with him? Floyd has kissing spines & Cushings - I retired him from riding until I tried him in harness, now he's having a ball as a driving pony, really given him a whole new lease of life. (See my recent thread 'A good day - Indoor driving comp').

He is a very loving little boy that hates children and as he is only 12.2 he needs to be a kids pony He is king pin in the field and bosses the others he is great for me as he is happy on his own or in company but he is the sort that if someone was rough he would fight them and I mean physically attack hence worrying about his future. I have had since he was a few months old he was gelded by a specialist horse hospital and he is always handled very firmly give an inch and he is dangerous as he thinks you are weak and will attack I adore him he is cheeky fussy and loves as much adult attention as he can get easy to catch good in traffic and a doodle with kids on a lead rein if he is in work he can be naughty of he has had too much time off. Loads himself and respects personal space. stands to be harnessed so you can do it on your own even without tying him up it does take two to put him to . I do love him loads he has had his teth back and everything else checked and he is in perfect health. He is greedy though and given the chance will eat himself into laminitis so needs a small field that is well grazed down.

Oh I see, well I don't blame him, I'm not keen on kids myself So it's more of an emotional / behavioral problem than a physical one - he needs to dominate and feel 'in charge'? You'll get there with him, don't give up, he sounds like a real poppet!

Yes that is his issue he is very dominant and quite aggressive as a result Not a good combination with a child although we are getting there ;D
