My poor hubby, built me a field shelter as a surprise for Christmas, I was very touched as we bought some land but then didn't have money for a shelter and he put himself through hell to build it for me. I didn't have a clue what he was up to, such a wonderful surprise when I came home from offshore.
Sadly we went away for Christmas and it was all tied down but we had 70mph gusts and I'm afraid our tie down straps were just not enough, the wind smashed it to pieces, strange enough it is in the same place but totally destroyed. Weird to see how the wind did it, it looks like a giant sat on it!
Poor chap he is so devastated, but as I pointed out the horses were fine not hurt, if we had been there we could have been injured trying to stop it. But sadly we have no money to fix it so what was a big enough shelter for 2 horses and lovely finished off will now look more like a wind break for one.
What a shame, I just feel so bad for him and all his hard work, this is a chap who really dislikes my horses but tries hard to care for them because he knows it means a lot to me (mind you it does still cause the odd row)!!
Just to put a smile on your faces, in particular he hates horse kisses and can't see why we are all obsessed with kissing them, but my daughter said he had to give in yesterday as my highland wasn't giving up without one, she said he was getting annoyed trying to pick up all the shelter and Skye was getting in his way smacking her lips, dribbling in his ear so in the end he gave up gave her the fuss she wanted and kisses then gruffly pushed her away, my daughter was ending herself trying not to let on that he had been outmaneuvered by a slobbery kissing horse!! ;D
