Well day two with the now tamed acavallo pad - It seems that using it once renders it SLIPPY - far too tame. So how do you keep yours on the "wild" side?? I guess one option would be to never put it on a horse? OR make sure your horse has a rough, poor coat? Maybe mine is too shiny? OR does it only work on clipped horses and the short hairs get caught in the holes??( Ouch) OR should we try glue??

Mine was only ever non-slip (i.e. sticky) when it was totally clean, then it would stick to ANYTHING. During use it would pick up any grease or dust from the horses coat and render it non sticky again. I got rid pretty quick!

ooh yes - my sister has a sticky pad, not sure if it is the same make as yours - and she washes it in warm water with detergent every time it is used, then keeps it in a tupperware box to keep it clean in between uses. :-) all a bit of a faff!

which way up are you using it?? we put the wool side next to the horse, over a plain numed numnah, and the plastic side next to the saddle. used on 2 horses - no slipping. mind you, Brio was terrified of the creaking noise it made against her saddle so we had to stop using it on her....

Michelle - there ain't no muck on me 'oss.( well not on his back anyway- but he isn't clipped so a little natural grease under his super shiny rugged coat.

ah - no, I thought you meant A Cavallo pad - as recommended by Kelly and Monty! I bought one from IH, but just looked on the website shop and they don't do them anymore. They are wool on one side, plastic on the other, thin memory foam, with some breathing holes. V good but not what you are describing!
