I had to move out of my last yard where my horse was out 24/7 with a small herd because the owner was giving up liveries.
I desperately wanted to find a new yard with as much turn out as possible but I went to about 15 yards and found lots of people saying they only turned out in winter if the weather was good enough, or for an hour a day.
Eventually I found a yard where the lady was adamant that horses were turned out all day whatever the weather. I have been there for five weeks and I'd say my horse has been in at least two days a week and hasn't been out now for a week. The fields are in excellent condition and the weather here hasn't been that bad.
Today when I went to get him out of his stable to muck out he reared up with me and tried to attack the horse in the stable opposite. It was very frightening. He is not normally an aggressive or nasty horse in any way. I walked him around the car park but he was snaking and being very difficult. I asked the YO if the are going out tomorrow and she says they may be.
I desperately need to find him a home where he can be turned out as being kept in obviously doesn't suit him but I work 14/15 hour days and cannot do DIY livery.
I can't sell him as I'm too frightened to handle him or ride him.
I don't know what to do. In a perfect world I'd send him to a yard like Derek's where he could live naturally but there is nowhere around here that does that and I can't spend £500 per month on a horse that lives at the other end of the country and I never get to ride.
Any suggestions appreciated.
