You need to get permission for all riders to go over the route so make sure all the farmers and land owners are on side. Good event insurance, good parking, make sure all entrants have their own insurance as a condition of entry, Buy rosettes and any prizes. Plenty of marshalls especially at road crossings fords and railway crossings. Be prepared to go and mark out your route the day before and supply maps

I have organised endurance rides in the past. Not quite the same but I can PM you a list of things you need to consider if that would be useful?

You also need to do risk assessment and have to have first aider. Toilets are not essential but a good idea. Think carefully about how you are going to mark the route and remember markers need to be taken down as soon as possible. Although not a legal document some kind of disclaimer will be needed and mobile number of rider and a contact. Time everyone in and out so you won't leave someone out on course who gets lost! It's a lot of work. Inform the police if any road crossings and have number of local vet.

It will be held at a local trekking centre so no extra permission needed. I thought i could mark the route with numbers and arrows (its not a hard or long route). There is parking and the owners have first aid certificates. The local vet/farrier etc would be informed.

I hope so. I wasnt sure what i should put on the disclaimer exactly but thought people could sign in and out on that.

Every rider will need public liability insurance. You may well need or decide to have a paramedic on site. Don't assume your markers will stat in place or people will follow them. Maps & talkrounds for your riders? Helpers. Don't underestimate how many helpers you will need. Catering van. Photographer. If your route goes past a lot of houses you need to inform homeowners. Are you using Forestry Commission land? If so, you will need a permit. Inform police of the date & approx number of riders.

Demarking of the route. Who will do it? What will you use to mark the route with? Chalk spray is a pain to get rid of and some people won't allow you to use them. Rosettes.
