Yep. It was hard work for all of us though. We had to break down everything into small parcels. If I wanted her to clean her bedroom - 1. Asked her to go and strip bed. 2. Then asked her to bring down bedding to put in wash bin. 3. Then asked her to get clean bed covers out airing cupboard. 4. Then asked her to make bed, etc, etc, etc. Very, very long and drawn out, but it worked. Also if I wanted her to go to the shop she had to write her own list which she could understand and I couldnt. LOL If she drew the object, i.e. an apple she could spell the word too which quite intrigued me tbh.
Terry is dyslexic too and when I write down jobs for him to go to I usually write in red ink as he can read it better........why I dont know, but hey ho, it works and thats all that matters.
Sorry that turned out to be a rather looooooong explanation. LOL

From an objective point of view, it must have been very interesting. However, to live with I'm sure it was exasperating at times.
I've heard that about red ink before. Apparently different colours of paper can also help with it.

Yep coloured paper can work with some people, also sometimes there is difficulty with white chalk on a black board. Boys are most likely to be affected for some reason too. Another strange fact is that the majority of dyslexic people are not unintelligent, either, in fact a huge majority of them are very intelligent which means they can hide it very well and therefore not picked up so early. Another thing Clare was told was if she gets what they classed as a 'mental block', to walk away, do something completely different then come back and resume what she had started..........that works too. Unfortunately you cannot walk away in exam conditions though.
She was allowed an extra half hour for her written driving test exam but didnt need it on the day. Apparently ADS and dyslexia are very, very similar too from what I have heard and read.

I do the same if I have a mental block. Unfortunately, it seems to be happening more frequently
