I am looking to buy a 50ft diameter round pen - would happily consider second hand if any one has one on offer. New seem to vary from £800 for one put together from construction site panels to £4K for those similar to those used by Kelly at demos etc.
In between there is the Knights round pen. 5ft in height and panels made up from 4 relatively heavy galvanized bars but with nothing between. They have some good testimonials on the site but I wondered if anyone is aware of them or have used them. I have a mild concern that in some situations a horse could kick out between the bars. Your views, thoughts on this would be helpful.

You will get more views and answers if you post in General. Ian Vandenburg sells round pens www.hartsopfarm.co.uk these will be the ones you see on the courses and at demos, and they are nowhere near £4k! I think they are about £1500. Rounds pens with bars, plenty of people use them, I think I would board them to at least 4ft if you are dealing with horses that might kick/strike out. PLEASE don't use construction panels, they are very dangerous as they spring back around the leg if a horse kicks out.

Thanks Hannah
Good advice - I will look at Ian's offering. For the bar ones boarding would improve them - I was not considering the construction panels - they look flimsy I would worry about them splitting and damaging a leg. Also I would anticipate they would not last and that seems like a bad investment. Sonia
