To anyone thinking of ordering from them, I have just seen on another forum that they have gone into liquidation.

Very pleased to hear it ;D ;D
Though when a company goes into administration/liquidation they often try to continue trading as they are then in with a chance of it being sold as a going concern, however I remember when a big furniture store went under they continued taking money and orders they knew they couldn't meet. When I worked for Speedferries and they went under the staff were actually asked to continue working for nothing for a few weeks to try to keep it going so they could secure a buyer, sadly it didn't work.

They had shop in Malton which closed down last year, it wasn't open for that long and it had such fierce competition with 3 saddlers in Malton alone as well as Rideaway being not that far away either. Their prices just didn't compare when you could go elsewhere so wasn't surprised when it closed but was sad for the people who worked there.
Hope they don't go under as their online service was brilliant.

Looks ok according to Companies House at the mo: wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/c4ad325cff9e749386cdc38151653586/compdetailsIf a liquidator is appointed/the co goes into administration, Companies House will show that (though it can take a while for the website information to update...) Company directors have to be very careful re. continuing to trade if there are solvency concerns, lest they commit offences leading to personal liaibility. Not to say a company in administration/liquidation can't continue to trade - certainly with administration the aim of the regime is rescue and recovery - but that the proper procedures have to be followed to protect all concerned. Hopefully Derby House is fine and dandy!

Well my rug that I ordered on Wednesday turned up today, so I'd say they're still very much trading.

I liked Derby House best when it was a very small 2 stroey shop in Parbold Lancs. In 1984 I got my first ever showoutfit from there and it was THE place to go to for quality and bespoke show clothes. They had their own boot fitter, jacket fitter, and hat fitter! And you got a cuppa while shopping, you went ion and sat down and told them what you wanted and they would bring it all to you!!!!
