can anyone tell me what the point is ,of bidding on something on ebay when its got 6 days to run, and whats the point of bidding 3 times in 1 day ? trailer on there just gone on , at £2.00 starting bid and has 3 bids on it by the same person, would you just sit tight and wait till the last few mins, instead of pushing the price up,

If it has a reserve price they're trying to find it. Say the reserve is £1000, if they put start bid of £2 and maximum of £50 then as neither meets the reserve it will sit at the lowest until someone else bids. However, if they put in a maximum of £1100, it will ping straight to £1000 to meet the reserve and only go up to £1100 if someone else bids. Putting in a starting bid and a higher maximum is a good way of setting your own personal limit and avoiding being drawn into bidding more than you really think it's worth

I often puts early bids on because I know I'll forget later on or more usually because I'm at work when the bidding ends. I'm also horribly indecisive so often bid more than once. I don't like bidding at the end because I make less rational bids then. I put my figure down early then leave it to ebay.
Which reminds me I must go and bid on a nice jacket I saw yesterday.............
