;D ;D ;D I took my new girlie out this morning, just the 2 of us. This is a completely new concept for me as Zack would absolutely NOT EVER go out on his own - The one time I tried it - after building up to it for weeks, having someone walk with us and them gradually getting further and further behind - he spun and bolted home and he and I parted company and I ended up with broken ribs on that occasion - so never attempted it again. Buffy and I only did the 'small farm block' today, which takes about 20 minutes and she was a star for about 80% of it but on the 'home stretch' we went past a wooded area and I think we startled a flock of birds in the trees - who all flew up in the air as we passed, and she took off!! I tried a one rein stop but we just veered round in an arc and then we were heading for some electric fencing round a field at the other side of the track. I found myself wondering if we were going over it or through it - but thankfully she stopped - but by then the 2 horses who were in that field had seen us and were hoolying around. we proceeded to jog down the last of the track beside them while they roared around their field. I had to get off at the bottom as there is a padlocked gate to negotiate. I was a bit disapointed about the end of the ride - but at least I didnt come off, she listened to me eventually and I suppose its still early days and I'm still getting to know her. I shall try it again in the next few days and hopefully it will be completely uneventfull.

We did it this morning! I'm so happy - she was brilliant. once or twice she paused and and looked at things but walked on when asked and even when we rode down the road past a hedge with horses hooning about on the other side of it she still listened to me. We did the ride the other way round today to get the 'scary' bit over and done with first and it seemed to work. Chuffed to bits!!
