Thanks for that explanation, mrsfields!! That also makes perfect sense!! Poor old chickens seem to have added several expressions to the English language, for all the wrong reasons! lol!

mrsfields i have a cockeral (Elvis) who has a fallen crest but he is healthy its just to big lol.

What a super hoss - and if I hadn't read what he was, I'd have thought he was part- or pure-bred Welsh Sec D.
Just shows how much the Iberian input, even though it was centuries ago, still influences our native breeds. Fascinating!

Being a bit of a cob anorack, I thought along the same lines Fascinating to learn about fallen crests and "crestfallen"!

He looks great Heather, you will never regret buying a Spanish horse... they are just lovely, great personalities, very in-tune with their rider, forward going yet calm and level headed...

I know Zazou :-), all my horses are either Lusitano or PRE, have had them for many years ;-) and I have also trained in Portugal for many years too. This one is a long way from calm- yet! Hot as hell! But we'll get there!

I am a convert, I have a PRE mare and an un-papered recently cut gelding... who used to be a cow horse they are sooo unflappable.. I discovered them after a riding holiday in Spain... and just LOVE them!
