Tried turning Raz out in a new field today as she's not happy with her current field. New group of 4 horses but she knows them. All going really well. She had settled beautifully was grazing peacefully when my friend watched in horror as Raz when charging flat out to the top of the field, back into the hawthorn hedge before turning round and disappearing into the hedge.
She made it through a thick hedge ripping it up by the roots and over two strands of barb wire before taking off across the downs!! I got a call at work to tell me (looking back now I'm glad I was there) and my friend and 3 people from the yard went to find her. Luckily some people had found her and two people from the yard lead her back
I've just come back from the yard and I'm amazed all she has is skin scrapes one cut on her thigh. She is slightly lame on her left hind and right front that gets better as she moves but I've given her some bute and will see how she is in the morning
Can't believe how luckily I am to have such amazing people on my yard and that my horse was seriously injured or killed!!

No idea. My friend was poo picking in the field and said she literally just turned and fled. She said she's never seen a panic reaction like it

Good grief, how frightening. That's a very extreme reaction, wonder what caused her to panic like that. At least you know what happened, even if you don't know why.

She was very stiff last night but so lucky to only have a few scrapes and one cut. Gave her some bute and this morning she is sound and much brighter. Gone back out in her old field

She's doing really well tonight. Model patient having her legs washed and sprayed. Very small swelling on outside of right hind with some heat. Vet said he wants to look at it if it's still swollen in the morning. Left a message for the chiro to come and take a look at her
