Good luck in getting a result. Whoever she is, looks like you've got a good 'un there.
Would really like to know more about the DNA testing process & costs. It might be of help in ID'ing stolen horses. What do they need - bloods or hair or what?
If they are full sisters, will the outcome positively confirm which is which?

they are half sisters - same dads born same year different dams. However, there is always the possibility that she is none of the above, and that is where the problem lies. She is a bit scared to be honest, I think she may have had a few good hidings in her past. I am not suggesting that the lady who had her at York was involved, but she flinches a bit. She is doing better each day though

I dont know the story on her but picked up she was stolen? Had a very rough start and been pushed thru her childhood and never allowed to slow down and be the baby she still is. Yes very anxious and desperate to feel safe and that she belongs somewhere. Lovely girl

It matters to me to have her identity, I will presume that it matters to the owners of any other mare, especially if they try to breed from her then send the dna off to the society to be told that the foal is not who they think it is. It also matters to me if I have a horse that has been given a fake ID and belongs to someone else. I am happy with the horse and will keep her but I do need to know. I am really hoping it is a microchip error.

Whoops - didnt mean to come across as rude jackiedo, i undertand why it matters was just wondering if you had bought her specifically for her breeding. Hopefully is a chip error.

no I did not think you were being rude. My nightmare is that someone had the passport for a horse that died and just picked up somebody elses Grey Mare to sell.. also, my vet refuses to sign the vaccination part on her passport, there are lots of issues if I should ever need to sell her, which I hope not, and when she is tidied up and fit I would like to enter her in Small hunter classes. I have enough horses and bearing in mind how much Azlan has cost me to get to 4 I can't see how I would in my right mind want to breed ever again, but there is alsothe possibility that there is another horse out there who Really is Porthall Doctor Jane, DNA typed who if they try to breed from as something else, they will get one hell of a shock when they try to register a foal.... I think that the lady who presented her at the sale is genuine, but I don't want somebody turning up in a couple of years asking for their horse back! She has been turned out this week with a 34 year old mare and a yearling gelding, she is kind with other horses, but flinches if she thinks she may be in trouble. She has no idea about Polos or carrots etc. She is a bit nervous but has a kind eye, we are all very fond of her.
