hi all been a while since i was on here last. looking for your advice.
my partner and i have just been given a field for our horses and we are wanting to build stables for our two horses. the only thing is we are not sure as to the type of flooring to go for.
we are not allowed to use a concrete base as if we leave the stables will go with us.
have been toying with the idea of a raised wooden floor with the liquid rubber on top. what do you guys think ?

I had a field shelter in my old field and had a shavings bed it in and it aways stayed dry and the wet just drained through the ground

My ponys field shelter is moveable, but never has been. Its just on the ground, no base. Always dry in there, this winter I put a bale of shavings on the floor at one end, feed her hay at the other end, it works really well. (And the bonus is she doesnt poo inthere, she lines them up about 4m from the shelter. )

If your flooring has to be non-permanent, then make sure that you make drains before you put down any kind of flooring. Dig a good foot down in several places inside your buildings and fill with small rocks and soil infill. From my experience (three homebuilt stables/shelters) make at least two in the centre area of the stable for pee drainage! I have ash floors in mine, taken from years of collection from my parents' fireplaces, and they do need regular maintaining to keep in good condition. We aren't allowed permanent flooring, so this works very well for me, and they've been in full use for nearly 25 years now. I don't use rubber mats. I love Hemcore as a dry base on my floors with Unibed bedding on top.

Raised wooden floor in a stable seems a terrible idea, wet and wood do not mix at all to my mind.
