Today was a very happy day for me! After 12months of not having any tack on (other than a roller) my horse was saddled and ridden in the school (not by me though, still not there with my confidence). She tacked up perfectly, no stress signs, no biting when being girthed, accepted the bit and bridle perfectly. Then the rider got on, very calm, walked around, she reared a couple of times and then did a huge buck, but he stayed on well!! He decided to lunge her as he felt she was fresh, and boy was she fresh. After she had burned some excess energy he got back on she was a little poppet. Walked and trotted around the school. He said he really liked her and that she wasn't 'naughty' just very green and didn't understand what was being asked of her, he thought she was beautiful . Here are some pics although they were not very good. I was beaming from ear to ear. The rider was very much a traditionalist but was very kind and never once raised a hand or lost his patience with her (he wasn't carrying a whip or wearing spurs). I will still be using IH methods for many things and also will be getting Becky Holden out, but, I felt she needed to re-start her education as a ridden horse but needed to find the right rider (ie, someone who was very confident and very patient). I had given strict orders that he wasn't to pin her down, smack her and all the rest of it. All in all a very successful session, and Nancy seemed to enjoy it, she was full of life and her eyes were bright. It was wonderful to see.
