I was climbing over my barbed wire fencing carrying a huge bag of hay, taking a shortcut as its very slippery and poached by the gate and i caught my boot on the barbed wire, slipped and landed on a tree root after ooooing and arrring and making squeaking noises for 5 minutes, much to the amusements of my kids i eventually got up. Havent been able to sit down since and today had it confirmed that i've broken my coccyx bone 1 month to 3 months to heal and theres no way i can ride unless i learn side saddle ;D What a bummer

I did this when I was 15 and yes - it darn well hurts - I used to take a cushion round all my lessons or I had to kneel in the class!
It does take a long time to heal but you might find you are on board sooner than 3 months - I certainly did.
Its the act of sitting and getting up that is so painful...but I'm okay now ( ahem - 30 years later...!)

This happened to a friend a couple of years ago - she went and bought a rubber ring I think to sit on - and yes it does hurt!

Its just typical, first the weather, then Elvis was poorly and we have managed 2 rides and i break my coccyx I hope i can get back in the saddle sooner.......no chance at the moment although i can still muck out and groom, picking up feet is also out of the question as i can't bend that low either at the moment.

Owwwww! Bloomin painful. Don't ride too early though no matter how tempting. I don't know if I actually broke mine years ago but I know even driving was very painful. Slow and steady does it.

Ouchy! im not sure if i broke mine as i didnt go to the drs (naughty me) but when i fell off tiny earlier this year i landed on mine on concrete. And bl00dy hell i didnt half wind myself and i couldnt move just lay on the floor for what seemed like a life time. Stupidly i got back on and finished schooling session and kept riding. Took good 3 months with taking painkillers before i was comfy again, even walking was a chore not fun :-(. Be sensible unlike me! and im sure you will mend much quicker!!

ouch poor you! Don't rush things and let it heal - think of all those books, articles, DVDs etc you can catch up on.
Poor another glass and get a comfy cushion. X
