Awful, and for the poor motorist who ran into the loose horse. It must hve been an horrible shock.

I understand that the horse bolted due to a bird scarer being set off!! These things are a bleedy menace and potentially lethal!

Too right, Steve. I've had experience of that. They're even worse than guns. Where I rode there were numerous shoots and they rarely bothered the horses too much - I guess they became accustomed to the noise - but regularly passed a field that sometimes had a bird scarer scarily close to the bridlepath hedge. The horses didn't bolt but they certainly started and scooted past
