Well, after breaking Floyd to Harness in November this year, we went to our first Club competition today! We didn't do very well but we had a great time, Floyd was very good, if not a little excited and we achieved what we set out to achieve and that was to have a go, stay safe and have fun! IH certainly made the training much, much easier and the lady who helped me remarked how very well behaved and well prepared he was - it normally takes several months to get them to this stage! I was very, very proud of him today and was even more proud to wear my IH Jacket! The competition consists of 3 phases, just like a one day event. Phase 1 is dressage, Phase 2 is Cones (replaces show jumping phase) and Phase 3 is Obstacles (replaces the Cross Country phase). Our dressage was pretty dire, the cones were quite good, of the 12 cones I knocked 4, and we went clear in the Obstacles although we were a lot slower than everyone else! Phase 1 - Dressage Phase 1 - Dressage - a perfect 5 second halt Phase 2 - Cones Phase 2 - Cones (as you can see I well and truly fluffed this one!) Phase 2 - Cones Phase 3 - Obstacles Phase 3 - Obstacles Phase 3 - Obstacles (a gallop for home - well a sedate trot - we'll gallop next time when he has his new skinny, lightweight carriage which is due to arrive at the end of the month!)

That's really good going if you only started in November. Lovely pics, you don't look like it's the first time for both of you!

Oh thanks everyone, I'm still grinning now! Will be phoning up later to get a date for delivery of his new carriage! ;D Lots of practice to do ready for the next one in March . Lots and lots of fun hacking to do before then to keep him keen. I'm loving it ;D
